A man arrived at a regional hospital one night claiming he'd been bitten by a snake.
When nurses asked what had bitten him, he produced a brown snake — right into the nurses' station.
The man collapsed. The snake moved onto the desks. The nurses were suddenly stuck behind the station glass, trying to summon the on-call doctor and additional staff.
At first, the doctor thought the story couldn't possibly be true. But the team eventually organised the patient's care and aeromedical transfer.
Police subsequently attended and discovered more native wildlife in the man's vehicle, reportedly intended for overseas sale.
You couldn't make this stuff up.
